A bookie has been arrested for his involvement in an IPL betting racket.

The IPL Betting Racket suffered a setback when the criminal branch intervened, arresting a bookie who was taking and putting bets online during IPL 2022. Following the arrest, the crime branch seized a mobile phone and Rs4,500.

The accused was found talking on the mobile at Dussehra ground and has been identified as Abhishek alias Babu Patil (26) of Barkheda Pathani Govindpura Bhopal. He was involved in placing bets from punters through the online portal Grand Exch.com. Upon further investigating the accused, the crime branch found that he was betting on the Rajasthan Royals match taking place on the 26th of April.

Upon further interrogation, the accused admitted to placing a bet the aforementioned cricket match by giving ID, and failed to present valid documents for betting. A case under  4A Gambling Act was registered against accused.

No criminal record has been obtained in the further and investigation has been started.

It should be noted that such exchanges are illegal and should be avoided at all costs. Unlike licensed operations such as 10Cric, exchanges such as King Exchange and Lord Exchange offer very little in the way of safety and security for their punters. It is therefore strongly advised to visit other cricket betting sites when it comes to online gambling.
